Our Origins.
My name is Emily Baldwin, the founder of the Marah & Myrrh Collective. I created this Collective to serve women through every season in their lives, providing a sanctuary where ancestral wisdom and clinical herbalism meet. My mission is to offer a seamless weave of traditional birth support and high-potency apothecary preparations, ensuring that every woman receives the reverent, holistic care she deserves.
I am a wife, a mother to four earthly children, one angel, and a follower of Christ. I’m a Apprentice Midwife, Certified Herbalist, Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, Breastfeeding Counselor, Childbirth Educator, and a Certified Placenta Specialist.
I currently provide in-person services within a two hour radius of Toccoa, Georgia.
The Origin: Naming the Collective
The name of our collective is a bridge between two ancient stories, intentionally chosen to reflect the dual journey of healing and grace.
"Marah," meaning bitter, draws from the story in Exodus 15 where the waters of Marah were made sweet; it reminds us that even in our most difficult, bitter transitions—whether through birth, loss, or postpartum recovery, or hardship—there is always the potential for transformation and restoration.
"Myrrh," an ancient, precious resin known for its restorative and preservative properties, represents the gentle, sacred care we provide to mothers.
Together, Marah & Myrrh embodies the belief that your struggle is not wasted, and that with the right support, the bitter experiences of womanhood can be seasoned with the healing balm of community and tradition.
My approach to the Marah & Myrrh Collective is rooted in the rigorous, heart-centered standards of traditional midwifery. I believe that birth and womanhood are not medical emergencies to be managed, but sacred rites of passage that deserve both reverence and clinical excellence. My background in birth work provides a strong, thorough foundation for every protocol I offer, ensuring that whether I am attending a birth or formulating a tonic, the safety and physiological flourishing of the mother are always the priority.
This expertise was not gathered from books alone, but forged through years of attending births while witnessing the raw power and specific needs of the laboring woman in real-time. It is a skill set built upon countless hours of quiet observation at the bedside and the profound privilege of learning from the Wise Women who walked this path before me.
By honoring their ancestral legacies alongside modern clinical study, I’ve integrated my experience in direct support with the art of traditional herbalism. This dual perspective allows me to look at a woman’s health through both a biological and a botanical lens, creating a "proper" standard of care that is as restorative as it is reliable.
The Foundation: Women-Led Care
The Marah & Myrrh Collective was born from a simple but radical belief: that every woman, regardless of her background or the path she is walking, deserves access to proper ancestral support. Our mission is to uncover and share the wisdom of the midwife’s apothecary, making high-potency, medicinal-strength herbalism a natural part of every woman's home. We do not just serve the "ideal" birth; we serve the woman and meet her exactly where she is with dignity, grace, and restorative care.
Whether you are navigating the intense preparation of the third trimester, seeking recovery in the tender postpartum weeks, or simply looking for a moment of stillness in the everyday stages of life, our collective is your sanctuary. We are a bridge between the clinical and the communal, providing traditional birth support and handcrafted herbal preparations that honor the physiological and spiritual needs of womanhood. At Marah & Myrrh, we aren't just selling products and services. We are tending to a community of nourished, empowered women who are equipped to thrive in every season of their journey.
The Commitment: Apothecary Quality
At Marah & Myrrh, medicinal strength is our baseline. We believe that if a woman is turning to the earth for support, she deserves the full potency of what that plant has to offer. This is why we don’t cut corners on our extractions or simplify our rituals for the sake of convenience. We honor the chemistry of the plant just as much as its spirit, ensuring every drop and every leaf serves a therapeutic purpose.
Our commitment to quality is seen in the details: it’s in our choice of 100-proof solvents to capture the deep alkaloids of roots and barks, our use of organic vegetable glycerin for gentle yet effective iron support, and our insistence on long-steep, mineral-dense infusions. These are not your grocery store tea bags. We source our herbs with a midwife’s eye for purity and prepare them in small, controlled batches to ensure that the remedies you receive are as fresh as they are powerful. When you choose a Marah & Myrrh preparation, you are choosing a standard of herbalism that refuses to settle for anything less than medicinal strength.
At the end of the day, these tinctures, teas, and protocols are simply tools to support the magnificent work your body is already doing. My deepest joy is seeing women reclaimed by their own strength, whether that happens in the quiet of a nursery or the intensity of the birth room.
I don't just provide these remedies, I live them. If you’d like to step closer into my world and hear the stories that shaped my hands and my heart, I invite you to read through my personal journey.
